Membership
The leadership of Alliance Bible Church regards Membership as a significant statement of personal commitment to the Church. For us, Membership must never be a simple going through the motions of meaningless formalism, on the one extreme, or a statement of elitism or superiority on the other. Membership declares that we stand together, united in our commitment to God, His Word, and on e another - "partners" in his work in this community and around the world.
We do not regard Membership as joining, as one would join a club, or belonging to an organization. This step is not primarily a matter of record keeping, but is rather a statement of commitment, identification, and availability - a matter of the heart.
When the Apostle Paul spoke of Christians as "members" of the body of Christ, he used that expression, not as an organizational term, but as an analogy to a human body. The Church is a spiritual organism; a variety of different parts that depend on each other. In Christ's Body, all are "members" of one another, with similarities and differences which only the power of His love can bring together. Each person, however unspectacular their ministry to the body, shares fully in the common life; each, however prominent their gift, just exercise it with humility, recognizing it is a gift from the Lord for the sake of the body as a whole. The Lord calls His Church to be marked by unity- not uniformity- - by mutual commitment to himself, not simply similarity of experience or taste. For He Alone can reconcile all things to Himself.
Membership for us then is based on the understanding that the true fellowship, unity and harmony can only be born out of a common love for the Lord Jesus, expressing itself in a loving service to one another. Those who do not share this commitment have no reason to be identified with His Church.
The process leading to recognition as a Member of Alliance Bible Church begins with attendance of a Membership class. This class will introduce us to the basic distinctions of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and our local Church as well. Following this basic introduction, interviews will be scheduled for any who are interested in Membership, with several of the elders. This interview is intended to affirm that there already exist between us, that unity of the spirit which makes one a true Member of the Body of Christ. This interview is not an interrogation, it is a time of sharing our love and commitment to the Lord.
We welcome you who are ready to identify with us in Membership. We need you and you need us, too! It is our sincere desire to be of help and encouragement to those who fellowship with us from week to week.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Alliance Bible Church contact Pastor Jeff Wiesinger before or after the Sunday Worship service.
