Dear Congregation,

Many things have happened since my last letter.  The board and elders had the privilege of spending time with God and one another at the Board/Elder retreat in March.  We spent much time in prayer and discussion over issues of vision, staffing, the pastor’s sabbatical, and ministry issues.  As we joined together in prayer over the struggles we were facing, God spoke to many throughout the weekend of his awesome provision as we trust and wait on him.  As I write this a month later, I am blessed that God allowed us to experience this truth.  Today, we are seeing God’s awesome provision and answer to prayer.

We are excited to have the secretarial position filled!  Currently we have a wonderful temporary secretary, Lisa Herrin.  She is newly married and new to Alaska.  She will be working until the end of June.  July 1^st, Melanie Knapp will fill this position permanently.  Melanie is a past secretary from Chapel by the Sea.  She has recently moved back to Anchorage and comes highly recommended.  God has blessed us with this provision!

The search committee is currently considering two candidates for the Youth/CE position, as another example of God’s provision!  They will be working over the next weeks to select who will candidate with the church in August.  While this process continues, the board has hired Kelly Stocker, who interned this position last summer, to fill the position of Youth/CE for the summer months. 

We as a board are excited and supportive of the Elders leadership in providing Pastor Jeff with a much needed Sabbatical from June 15^th to July 31^st.  We trust God’s provision as we seek him with the practical details and transitions for this time.  Please join us in praying for Pastor Jeff and his family.  We pray God’s provision of direction, rest and renewal for each one as they are away from us.  Please address any questions or concerns you may have to the elders during this time. 

We are looking forward to the Missions Conference which will be held June 4-8.  Our missionary is Rodney Johnson from Uruguay.  Helen Valentine will be coordinating this event and welcomes any help!

My God will meet all you needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  To our God and Father be glory forever and ever.   Amen!

Announcements …

Nursery Coordinator Needed!:  For the past couple of years, Sara Mason has faithfully served as ABC’s nursery coordinator.  In June, Sara and her family will be leaving Alaska.  The nursery coordinator serves the precious babies and toddlers, and their families. 

 

 

 Sunday School Party: On May 25^th, there will be a Sunday school party for all children. The party will be held during the Sunday school hour from 9:00 -10:00.

 

 

Promotion Sunday: Come celebrate with us as the children move up to the next grade level! Promotion Sunday will be on June 1^st during the Sunday school hour from 9:00 - 10:00.
